Nicolas Dronniou has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. In 2001, they completed an internship in materials corrosion at the Gaz de France R&D center. In 2003, they worked on their MSc project in composite materials at Alpine, where they developed numerical models to simulate the crashworthiness of structures made of composite materials. In 2004, they joined Volvo Group as an Industrial PhD in Energetics, conducting experiments in an engine research lab to explore new combustion strategies. From 2009 to 2012, they worked at Sandia National Laboratories as a Postdoctorate in optical diagnostics, where they developed and applied Laser Induced Fluorescence techniques for measuring temperature fields in engines. From 2012 to 2014, they worked as an R&D Engineer and Project Leader at IFP Energies nouvelles, conducting optical studies for the energy and transportation industry. Since 2015, they have been with Mainspring Energy, starting as a Staff Development Engineer and progressing to roles such as Manager of the Test and Performance Team, Director of Test Engineering and Plant Operations, and currently serving as the Senior Director of O&M and Development Operations.
Nicolas Dronniou received a Baccalauréat Scientifique from Lycée la Bruyère in 1998. Nicolas then pursued a Baccalauréat Littéraire as a free candidate and completed it in 2000. In 2002, they obtained a Master of Mechanical Engineering with a major in Materials Science from Université de Technologie de Compiègne (UTC). Nicolas furthered their education by completing a Master of Science in Automotive Product Engineering from Cranfield University in 2003. Nicolas Dronniou concluded their academic journey with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Energetics from Université d'Orléans in 2008.
