Major Group for Children and Youth (MGCY) is a self-organized space for children and youth (aged 0-30) to contribute to and engage in certain intergovernmental and allied policy processes at the UN since 1992. Our mission is to bridge children and youth and the UN system in order to ensure that their right to meaningful participation is realized. 

We do so by engaging children and youth entities in formal and informal forms in the design, implementation, monitoring, follow-up and review of sustainable development policies at all levels in four areas: Policy & Advocacy, Capacity Building, Youth Action and Knowledge.

The Regional and Global Focal Points team at Major Group for Children and Youth (MGCY) is responsible for coordinating efforts and facilitating communication between children and youth entities and the United Nations system. This team ensures meaningful participation in policymaking and implementation by representing regional and global interests, managing youth engagement in sustainable development policies, and advocating for child and youth priorities across various UN platforms and processes.
