Amy Katz

Amy Katz is a Managing Director and member of the Boston In-House Counsel Recruiting team. With a passion for legal matchmaking, Amy utilizes her deep knowledge of the legal and life science industries, employment counsel experience and expansive network to place general counsel and other in-house attorneys and compliance professionals within public and private, nonprofit, and academic legal departments across the country. She has extensive experience working with clients in a wide range of industries, most notably life sciences, healthcare, and technology.

Amy initially joined Major, Lindsey & Africa in January 2017. Quickly developing an expertise for helping clients find outstanding attorneys and guiding lawyers in their legal careers, she was soon promoted to managing director. While the pull of corporate life took her back to Outside GC in November 2021 to serve as the firm’s inaugural chief talent officer, Amy rejoined the MLA in-house executive recruiting team in April 2023 and is thrilled to be back.

Amy’s career experience also includes over 25 years as a practicing employment attorney. Prior to joining Major, Lindsey & Africa in 2017, Amy was a member at Outside GC, advising employers on a wide range of employment law matters, conducting workplace and academic investigations, and designing and delivering compliance training. Before that, she served as senior employment counsel for Genzyme Corporation, a global multibillion dollar biotech company based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. At Genzyme, she was responsible for advising senior management and human resources on employment law; developing and executing HR compliance training programs; managing and resolving a litigation docket and overseeing the company’s immigration program.

Amy began her legal career as an associate with Foley Hoag LLP in Boston.
