Ru Bhatt

Ru Bhatt, a Partner in the New York Associate Practice Group, works closely with lawyers at all stages of their careers to help them achieve their goals. He prides himself on being more than just a recruiter; he’s a career counselor and advocate, coaching his candidates through every step of the recruiting process including integration at their new firms. He takes a holistic approach to getting to know his candidates, including their career goals and ambitions, and then shares his knowledge of the legal landscape to help them make informed decisions.

Ru takes great pride in his ability to play "matchmaker" between his candidates and clients and has enjoyed making a meaningful impact in the lives of hundreds of attorneys over the years. He is extremely knowledgeable of the firms throughout the city and provides recommendations based on where candidates will fit culturally and excel professionally. He acts with the best interests of his clients and candidates in mind, focusing solely on being an advocate and trusted advisor to all parties.

In his free time, Ru follows his passion for music as a renowned DJ and is actively involved in fundraising efforts for local and national LGBTQ+ and Asian American charity organizations both as a volunteer and board member.

Ru started his legal recruiting career when he joined Major Lindsey & Africa in 2008 as a practice specialist in the Partner Practice Group. Within three years, he was promoted to Director and moved to the Associate Practice Group. He was then promoted to Managing Director within a year. Ru’s time in the Partner Practice Group allowed him to hone his interpersonal skills and gain a deep understanding of the legal market.

Ru has placed partners and associates of all levels at top-tier firms and in prominent in-house positions. He has developed an expertise in the New York legal market that enables him to act as a career counselor to his candidates, helping them identify opportunities that are consistent with their diverse career goals. His tenure at Major, Lindsey & Africa has allowed him to develop deep relationships with law firm and corporate clients so he may better understand their needs and help them achieve their hiring goals.
