Ashley Allston

Transition Specialist & College Success Coach at Making Waves Education Foundation

Ashley Allston is an experienced professional in education and student support, currently serving as a Transition Specialist and College Success Coach at the Making Waves Foundation since November 2022. As Founder and CEO of My Doll LLC since June 2020, Ashley has demonstrated entrepreneurial skills. Previously, Ashley held various roles at College Track from May 2014 to November 2022, culminating as Senior Director of Student Life, where significant impacts included managing a department for over 270 students and enhancing experiential opportunities through expanded partnerships. Additional roles included Interim Site Director and Academic Affairs Coordinator, showcasing excellence in leadership, program development, and financial management. Ashley’s earlier experience includes co-hosting The Seeds You Sow Podcast, mentoring at Women and Youth Supporting Each Other, and conducting research at the UC Berkeley School of Public Health. Ashley holds an M.S.ED in Education Entrepreneurship from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor’s degree in African-American/Black Studies from the University of California, Berkeley.

Making Waves Education Foundation

At Making Waves, we are committed to educational equity. Making Waves Education Foundation is a Bay Area nonprofit that supports Making Waves Academy – a public charter school with more than 1,100 5th through 12th grade students – and leads college and career programming with more than 500 college students.​ ​ Knowing the opportunities that come with a college degree, we partner with historically underrepresented and underserved students to help make college affordable and graduation attainable. Centering the journeys of our students, our personalized approach includes college and career coaching, scholarships, and financial planning.​ ​ Our alumni network includes more than 600 college graduates, who earn their degrees and land jobs at more than twice the rate of their first-generation, low-income peers, with 84% graduating debt-free.
