Nicholas Sowden has an extensive work experience that spans several companies and roles.
Nicholas started their career as the Founder of a house painting business in 2005. Later that year, they co-founded If Life Development, where they played a key role in creating the curriculum, business plan, company structure, and sales strategy.
In 2006, they joined Collective Intellect as the Director of Business Development, where they led the launch team and focused on social media marketing. During their time there, Collective Intellect was sold to Oracle.
In 2008, they became the Commercial Director of ToughStuff, an international social business that manufactures affordable solar products. As the first employee, they played a significant role in selling over 300,000 solar panels across 14 African countries in just three years.
In 2011, Sowden co-founded Penda Health, a healthcare company in Kenya. Nicholas served as the CEO and chief growth officer, leading the company to become one of the top 10 healthcare companies in the country. Nicholas also served as a board member until 2021.
Most recently, in 2022, they joined Malaica as the COO, where they currently hold the position.
