James Tibenderana has a diverse work history in the field of global health and development. James currently serves as the Chief Executive of Malaria Consortium, a leading non-profit organization focused on preventing and treating malaria and other communicable diseases. Prior to this role, they served as the Global Technical Director at Malaria Consortium, overseeing a team of experts working on sustainable programs and research initiatives. James also had a role as the Development Director and Africa Technical Director at Malaria Consortium. In addition to their work at Malaria Consortium, they hold honorary positions at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the Uganda National Academy of Sciences. James is also a member of the Board of Trustees for the charity organization YouBelong, which focuses on supporting vulnerable populations.

James Tibenderana has an extensive education history. James obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, U. of London, where they studied from 1999 to 2005. Prior to that, they completed their Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Epidemiology at the Dept of Community Health, University of Cambridge, from 1994 to 1995.

Before pursuing their postgraduate studies, James Tibenderana received their MBChB degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Faculty of Medicine, Makerere University, where they studied from 1989 to 1994. James also spent a year at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, in 1988.

In addition to their academic degrees, James Tibenderana has obtained several certifications.
