Zachariah Matthews

Principal at Malek Fahd Islamic School

Dr Zachariah Matthews has a diverse work experience spanning over several fields. Dr Zachariah started their career as a Drug Information Pharmacist at NSW Therapeutic Medicines Information Centre in 1990. Dr Zachariah then worked as a Clinical Pharmacist at The Children's Hospital, Camperdown from 1991 to 1992. After that, they served as a Drug Information Pharmacist and Senior Pharmacist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital from 1992 to 2004. From 1998 to 2005, they worked as a part-time Lecturer at the University of Sydney. In 2004, Dr Matthews became the Director of Pharmacy at Canterbury Hospital, a position they held until 2012. Dr Zachariah then joined Just Media Advocacy as the Executive Director from 2011 to 2019. In 2013, they became the Head of Religious and Leadership Studies at Unity Grammar for a year. Following this, they served as the Deputy Principal at Western Grammar School from 2019 to 2021. Dr Matthews also worked as the Director and Instructor at Deen Academy starting in 2012. Currently, they are the Director of Faith and Principal at Malek Fahd Islamic School starting in 2021.

Dr. Zachariah Matthews has a diverse education history. Dr Zachariah obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1986. Dr Zachariah then pursued further education and earned a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from The Ohio State University in 1990. In 1987, they completed a B.Sc (Hons) in Pharmacology from Potchefstroom University. Dr. Matthews also holds a Master of Islamic Studies degree from Charles Sturt University, which they completed in 2015. Recently, they enrolled in the University of Newcastle for a Master of Leadership and Management in Education, which they are expected to complete in 2023. Additionally, Dr. Matthews has obtained several certifications focused on leadership and education, including "Introduction to Leadership Coaching" from Growth Coaching International Pty Ltd, "Principal Induction Program" from the Association of Independent Schools of NSW, and various leadership courses from the University of Newcastle and HarvardX.
