Seongkyu Park

Seongkyu "Gilbert" Park is an Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Programs and Assistant Professor of Finance at Willamette University, holding these positions since August 2022. Prior to this, Gilbert was an Assistant Professor at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University from July 2015 to August 2022, teaching courses in Financial Economics and Microeconomic Foundations of Financial Economics at the doctoral level. Gilbert also served as an Instructor at the University of Chicago, teaching Introduction to Finance in 2013 and 2014. Previous military experience includes a role as 1st Lieutenant in the Republic of Korea Air Force from 2004 to 2008, where responsibilities included coordination and various officer duties. Early in the career, Gilbert completed an internship in the Finance and Accounting Division at Hyundai Home Shopping in early 2004. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago (2009-2015), an M.Econ in Economic Theory from Korea University (2007-2009), and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Korea University (2001-2004).
