Matt Scott is co-founder and CEO of Malong Technologies, a VC-backed AI company focused on computer vision for retailers. Matt has 15+ years R&D experience in computer vision and machine learning. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE (SMIEEE), published 100+ patents and 25+ scientific papers (h-index: 22) with 2,000+ citations. At CVPR’17, Matt and his team won the WebVision Challenge from Google, a worldwide image recognition competition. At CVPR’20, received the best paper award nomination. Prior to Malong, he was at Microsoft for 10 years, working in Microsoft Research on computer vision, machine learning and other research technologies.
In 2014, Matt co-founded Malong Technologies and is currently the CEO. The company has locations in the US, China and Japan, and has 150+ employees. Malong recently completed its B+ Round, invested by Accenture and SoftBank China, raising $41 million to date. As CTO, Matt led the company's R&D efforts creating state-of-the-art computer vision technology for retailers worldwide based on novel research. As CEO, he now focuses on sales and helps bring value to the world’s largest retailers as Malong customers. Matt received the Fast Company MCP100 China award. His work has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and The Discovery Channel, among other outlets. Matt is an IEEE Industry Engagement Committee voting member and reviewer for top academic conferences such as CVPR and NeurIPS.
