Iain MacKie

Iain Mackie is a seasoned entrepreneur and technology expert currently serving as Co-Founder and CEO of Malted AI, focusing on distilling Small Language Models for enterprise applications. Iain holds board member and advisory roles at several organizations, including Marqo, Creator Fund, and Touchlab Limited, where contributions range from multimodal search to investments in deep tech startups. Iain co-founded Ix Tech Global Ltd, leveraging LLMs to enhance e-commerce analytics. Notably, Iain achieved first place in the Alexa Prize Taskbot Challenge at Amazon, earning a $500k prize. Previous experience includes research with Edinburgh Partners and senior roles in quantitative trading at BNY Mellon. Iain holds a PhD in Information Retrieval from the University of Glasgow, an MSc in Data Science from The University of Edinburgh, and an MA in Applied Economics from the University of St Andrews.
