Janet Dawson

Deputy Chair at Manchester Metropolitan University

Most of her career has been in reward and remuneration management specialising in occupational pensions and she is a Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute.

She has many years of board experience as secretary to pension scheme trustee boards and as Group HR Director of Carillion plc, and supported the Remuneration and Nominations Committees of the Carillion Board. In her Carillion role, she was focussed on the attraction and development of talent with an emphasis on improving equality, diversity and inclusion across the business, particularly in leadership roles. Janet joined the Board of Combined Healthcare in March 2019 and was appointed as Deputy Chair in March 2020. She is also an independent member of the Remuneration Committee of Frederic Robinson Limited.

Janet lives with her husband in Staffordshire and her interests include travel, sailing and gardening. She also sits on the PCC of her local parish church.

Janet joined the Board of Governors on 26 June 2015 and became the Deputy Chair on 1 August 2020. She is also the Chair of the Remuneration Committee and is a member of the Finance and Resources Committee and Nominations and Governance Committee.
