Joseph Langan

Joseph Langan is an accomplished legal professional with extensive experience in Indigenous rights and claims. Currently serving as Senior Legal Counsel at Manitoba Hydro since August 2018, Langan provides legal advice on Indigenous relationships. Previously, Langan worked as Legal Counsel at Justice Canada from October 2015 to August 2018, where representation before courts and advisory roles were key responsibilities. Additionally, Langan prosecuted criminal offenses as a Public Prosecutor with the Public Prosecution Service of Canada from September 2014 to September 2015. Earlier roles include multiple legal counsel positions at the Department of Justice Canada from 2002 to 2014, where participation in significant inquiries and litigation was central. Langan holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Religion/Religious Studies from the University of Manitoba.
