Rodman Tompkins has worked in various companies since 2001. Rodman began as a Graduate Research Assistant at Colorado State University and worked in that position until 2007. Rodman then moved on to work as a Biotechnology Consultant at Rodman Tompkins Consulting from 2006 to 2010. Tompkins then joined CSU Ventures as Director of Licensing & Business Development from 2007 to 2020. Currently, they work at Mantel Technologies as the Executive Vice President since November 2018.

Rodman Tompkins began their education at Manheim Township High School in 1994 where they received no degree or field of study. Rodman later attended Tulane University from 1997-2001 where they received a dual major BS in Neuroscience and Cell & Molecular Biology. In 2001, they continued their education at Colorado State University where they received an MS in Anatomy and Neurobiology from 2001-2004. Rodman then pursued a second MS from Colorado State University in Microbiology, Immunology, and Pathology from 2004-2007.
