Lydia de Guzman

Lydia de Guzman has extensive experience in legal counsel within the insurance sector, having served as VP & Chief Counsel for Group Benefits at Manulife from June 2018 to March 2024, where key responsibilities included leading the Digital Practice Group and handling Group Benefits COVID-19 matters. Prior to this role, Lydia worked as a Senior Legal Counsel and an Articling Student at Fasken. Earlier experience includes serving as a Senior Law Student at Dalhousie Legal Aid Service and as a Policy Analyst for the Government of Nova Scotia, focusing on the Poverty Reduction Strategy. Lydia holds a J.D. from Dalhousie University - Schulich School of Law and a Public International Law Certificate from Queen's University at the Bader International Study Centre.
