Kimberly Thompson began their career at Stanford University in 2007 as a Neuroscience Postdoc before transitioning to roles at Circuit Therapeutics, where they served as a Senior Scientist, Director of Drug Discovery, and Senior Director of Drug Discovery. In 2019, they joined MapLight Therapeutics, Inc. as the Vice President of Research.

Kimberly Thompson completed a Bachelor's degree at the University of California, Berkeley. Kimberly then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Neuroscience at UCLA from 2000 to 2006.
