Senior Product Designer at Mappedin

Madison Draper has a diverse work experience, starting with their current position as a Senior Product Designer at Mappedin since May 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Amazon as a UX Designer II (Technical Cartographer) from December 2021 to January 2023. Before Amazon, Madison was employed at Stamen as a Technical Cartographer from June 2021 to December 2021.

Madison also gained valuable experience at Mapbox, where they held two roles: Designer, Maps from June 2019 to September 2021, and Support Engineer from May 2018 to July 2019. Madison further broadened their skillset at Bloomberg News as a Visual & Map Designer from December 2020 to May 2021.

During their time at the University of California, Berkeley, Madison worked as a Reader for Ethnic Studies 144AC: Race & Law from July 2016 to July 2019. Madison also played an integral role in designing UC Berkeley's first course on web cartography as a Reader for Geography 186 from May 2018 to May 2019. Additionally, they worked as a Cartography Intern for Geography 185 from January 2018 to May 2018.

Madison's career journey began with a teaching and education internship at The Fred T. Korematsu Institute from May 2016 to August 2016. Prior to that, they gained early professional experience as a Marketing Intern at The Quantified Self in May and June 2015.

Madison Draper pursued their undergraduate education from 2014 to 2018 at the University of California, Berkeley where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors in Geography and American Studies. Madison then enrolled at the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2020 to pursue a Master's degree in Design Management, which is still ongoing. In 2021, Madison Draper also attended San Diego Miramar College for a Fire Academy and EMT Certification program, which will be completed by 2023. Prior to their university studies, they attended Helix Charter High School from 2010 to 2014. Alongside their educational achievements, Madison Draper has obtained additional certifications as a Firefighter 1 from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) in April 2023, and as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians in June 2021.
