Tara Bishop

Dr. Tara Bishop is passionate about health care. As clinical operations leader at Bind, Tara leads Clinical Operations, including case, disease, and utilization management services. Tara joined Bind in 2018 and has been instrumental in its plan design modeling. She oversees teams that mine data analytics and predict health care costs and interventions that drive improved health care pathways and design. Tara also serves as an associate clinical professor at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City.

Before joining Bind, Tara was the medical director and senior expert at global consulting firm McKinsey & Company, where she helped design new ways to pay for and deliver care. She served multiple state, federal and private programs and led teams of data experts, consultants, and clinicians.

Tara also served as associate professor of medicine and health care policy at Cornell Medical School where she researched cost and quality issues in health care, directed the health policy and evidence-based medicine courses for medical students, directed quality improvement, and cared for patients as a primary care doctor. She has published almost 50 research articles, which have been cited by the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and others.

Tara completed her undergraduate studies at MIT where she majored in chemical engineering and music. She attended medical school at Weill Cornell Medical College and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the Mount Sinai Medical Center.

Tara frequently lectures and writes about health care improvement. She’s particularly interested in ways that data analytics and technology can transform the field. Tara also speaks and writes about alternative careers for physicians and the challenges of being a working mother.
