Michelle Black

Director Of Diversity, Equity And Inclusion at Maret School

Michelle Black has extensive experience in the field of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). Since 2022, they have been serving as the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Maret School. Prior to this, from 2018 to 2022, Black worked at Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart as the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. In this role, they were responsible for assessing and implementing equitable initiatives, recruiting and retaining diverse faculty and staff, and building relationships with outside organizations. Additionally, Black has experience in teaching and counseling roles, including English Teacher and Associate Director of Diversity at Ransom Everglades School from 2013 to 2018, and Residential English Teacher and College Counselor at Stevenson School from 2011 to 2013. Michelle began their teaching career as an English Teacher at Cresskill Board of Education from 2005 to 2011.

Michelle Black earned a Master of Science in Education degree, with a focus on School Leadership, from the University of Pennsylvania in 2018. Prior to that, Michelle completed a Master of Arts degree in English/Language Arts Teacher Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature from New York University.
