Gemma Thistlethwaite Burns

Gemma Thistlethwaite Burns is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in volunteering and community engagement. Currently serving as a Senior Volunteering Business Partner at Marie Curie UK since November 2020, Gemma previously held various significant roles at Barnardo's from June 2008 to November 2020, culminating in the position of Senior Adviser & Specialist Placement Schemes, UK Volunteering & Community Engagement. Responsibilities included managing the Retail Volunteering Team and overseeing the recruitment and recognition of over 10,000 retail volunteers. Additionally, Gemma developed and implemented initiatives for young offenders, providing work placements and support.
