Pester began her career as a nurse, specialising in midwifery, completing a qualification in public health nursing in 1998. Her medical education, coupled with a deep-rooted passion to empower women in sexual and reproductive health, led to her extensive work within the international non-profit sector.
Pester joined MSI’s Zimbabwe Country Programme in 2012 as Social Franchise Manager, prior to her role as Director of Grants and External Relations in 2014. In 2017 she completed an Executive Master’s in Business Administration and took part in MSI’s Accelerated Leadership Program. She worked two years in MSI's programme in Malawi, Banja MaMtsogolo, as Senior Operations Director, before being promoted to the Country Director for Zimbabwe in 2020.
Prior to this, Pester worked as a Post Services Coordinator at Population Services International (PSI), focused on implementing HIV testing services, for six years from 2006 to 2012. To supplement her professional experience, she holds a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in HIV and Management, and a Diploma in Project Management.
