Don Watson is a Senior Engineer at the Marion County Board of County Commissioners since October 2019, responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operations of the county's Traffic Management Center, including troubleshooting network equipment and planning for future network enhancements. Prior to this role, Don served as a Traffic Engineering Project Manager where the focus was on evaluating roadways for safety improvements and engaging with the public regarding traffic concerns. Experience also includes working as a Traffic Specialist for the Florida Department of Transportation, reviewing permits, and conducting traffic studies. Don Watson holds a Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering, a Master’s Degree in Transportation Engineering, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, all from the University of Florida. Additionally, experience as a Graduate Research Assistant involved mentoring students and presenting on transportation research.
