Avonette Blanding, CPA

Avonette Blanding, CPA has worked in various roles since 1992. Avonette began their career as a Visitor Services Representative at the National Aquarium in 1992, followed by an Intern role at INROADS in the same year. From 1997 to 2002, they worked as an Internal Auditor and Accountant - Agency Finance at Zurich Insurance. After that, they worked as a Senior Accountant at Gross, Mendelsohn & Associates from 2002 to 2004. From 2004 to 2006, they were the Controller at WOOD Consulting Services, Inc., where they were responsible for the full-cycle accounting of a small business. Finally, from 2006 to the present, they have been the Chief Financial Officer at Maritime Applied Physics Corp., where they are responsible for the financial and accounting functions of a multi-state organization. Avonette also acts as a corporate liaison with various external entities and supervises a staff of two full-time employees.

Avonette Blanding, CPA completed their Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Towson University between 1992 and 1996. Avonette then attended The Wharton School and Morgan State University - Graves School of Business & Management, where they obtained their Master of Business Administration - MBA in Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies in 2020. Prior to their higher education, they attended Western Senior High School. Avonette is also a Certified Public Accountant, certified by the MD State Board of Public Accountancy.
