Yi Zhang

Yi Zhang serves as the Senior Engineering Director for Engineering Systems at Marqeta since November 2024, focused on advancing embedded finance and modern card issuance. Prior to Marqeta, Zhang held the position of Senior Engineering Director at Rubrik, Inc., where significant contributions were made in transforming a platform team into a world-class organization through the implementation of a self-service infrastructure platform. Previously, at Splunk, leadership was provided in Release/DevOps and Productivity Engineering, enhancing CI/CD pipelines and automation. Zhang's earlier roles include senior management at Dell EMC, staff engineering at Avaya, and software engineering in various capacities, with initial work as a physicist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Educational credentials include a BS and MS in Applied Physics and Math from Peking University and a Ph.D. in Computational Fluid Dynamics from the University at Albany.
