Lieuwe Jurjen Melchers

Lieuwe Jurjen Melchers is a Consultant in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Martini Ziekenhuis since May 2023, previously serving as a Consultant and Coach for professional development of medical interns at Ommelander Ziekenhuis Groningen from April 2019 to April 2023. Lieuwe held the position of Fellow in Head Neck Surgery at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust from April 2018 to March 2019, and has a significant academic background, including roles as a Researcher, Resident, and PhD student at the University Medical Center Groningen from 2008 until March 2019, where the PhD thesis focused on new molecular biomarker discovery for oral and oropharyngeal cancer. Additional experience includes work as an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon at various hospitals from September 2017 to April 2018 and an International Observer in Head Neck surgical oncology and reconstruction at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in June 2017.
