Carl S. Moore

VP, Teaching & Learning at Howard Community College

Dr. Carl S. Moore is the vice president for teaching and learning (VPTL) at Howard Community College. He joined the college on August 1, 2022. Prior to joining the college, Dr. Moore was the associate vice president for learning and engagement at the District of Columbia and Certificate faculty in Temple University’s Teaching Higher Education Certificate program. He also served as a teaching faculty for USC’s Equity, a board member for the Online Learning Consortium, and a Middle States Commission on Higher Education evaluator. Dr. Moore has been in higher education for over 20 years and teaching for 15 years. Along his path, he maintained appointments across the faculty classification gamut serving in Instructional, adjunct, and tenure-track faculty roles. He also created and instructed a variety of courses in education at The Ohio State University, Temple University, Cabrini College, and Arcadia University in both face-to-face and online formats.

As a certified StrengthsFinder Coach and MBTI administrator, Dr. Moore frequently serves as a consultant on leadership, assessment, inclusive teaching, and faculty development. Over the course of his career, he has created and instructed a variety of face-to-face, hybrid, and online modes. He has a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Media, a Doctorate in Urban Education from Temple University, and a Master of Arts in Educational Policy and Leadership from the Ohio State University in Higher Education Administration.
