Minah Woo

VP, Workforce, Innovation & Strategic Partnerships at Howard Community College

Ms. Minah Woo is the vice president of workforce, innovation, and strategic partnerships and has been a member of the Howard Community College staff since 2000. Prior to this role, Ms. Woo served as Howard Community College’s associate vice president of continuing education and workforce development and director of the English Language Center which serves over 2000 students each year from over 100 countries.

Ms. Woo is instrumental in implementing traditional and non-traditional apprenticeship programs at the college. Since 2108, the college has grown to offer eight apprenticeship programs in eleven occupations including construction management, biomedical technology, information technology, licensed practical nurse (LPN), software development, and surgical technologist.

Having come to the United States as a child and as a English as a Second Language student herself, Ms. Woo knows firsthand the value of education and the importance of providing access and opportunities for students. Ms. Woo is passionate about breaking down obstacles to provide access to successful and happy lives of all residents, especially those who are often overlooked.

Ms. Woo serves on various boards such as Howard County’s Board to Promote Self Sufficiency, Association of Community Services of Howard County, Maryland Center for Construction Education and Innovation, Howard County Chamber of Commerce, and Leadership Howard County. She also serves as an advisory board member for the Columbia Downtown Partnership.

Ms. Woo hold a bachelor’s degree in education from Cairn University, a master’s degree in counseling from Missio Seminary, a master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Notre Dame of Maryland University where she is currently a Ph.D. candidate.
