Melissa Day

Melissa Day is a Senior Lead Environmental Scientist at Maryland Environmental Service, focusing on the assessment of potential natural resource impacts and mitigation strategies related to MDOT projects under the National Environmental Policy Act. Prior experience includes serving as a Contract Management Officer at the Maryland Department of Health, where responsibilities included overseeing service delivery and contract compliance. Additional roles have involved various research and technical positions in reputable institutions such as the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center and the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science. Melissa holds a BSc in Biology with a focus on Marine Biology and a minor in Oceanography from Millersville University of Pennsylvania and is currently pursuing an MSc in Environmental Science at the University of Maryland. Melissa has earned multiple certifications in contract management and procurement, and has managed significant contracts in public health.
