Joe Bistany

IT Division Chief at Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission

Joe Bistany has over 30 years of experience in the field of information technology. Joe has held various leadership positions in different organizations. From 2008 onwards, they worked at the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission as the IT Division Chief, responsible for managing staff, developing disaster recovery plans, and supporting the network operation center. Joe also served as the Acting CIO, where they were responsible for IT strategy, business continuity, security, and network operations. Prior to that, from 2003 to 2008, they worked at Arlington County as the Director of Telecom Services, focusing on improving the network design and operation. Earlier in their career, from 1985 to 2003, Joe worked at Veridian Corporation and Veda Incorporated, where they managed network operations and helped desk support staff. Overall, Joe Bistany has a strong background in IT management and infrastructure development.

Joe Bistany completed their education with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Business Administration from Frostburg State University, which they attended from 1976 to 1980. Prior to that, they attended DeMatha High School from 1972 to 1976. Joe then pursued further studies and obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree focused on Telecommunication from DeVry University, which they attended from 2001 to 2003.
