Gary Aistrup is a Principal Research Scientist at the Masonic Medical Research Institute since October 2016, specializing in basic and translational cardiac research, mentoring, and grant writing, with projects focused on TRPC channels and stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes. Prior to this role, Gary served at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine for over 21 years, progressing through positions from Postdoctoral Research Fellow to Research Associate Professor, concentrating on cardiac research, ion channel dynamics, and the effects of alcohol on cardiac function. Gary holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Kansas, earned between 1989 and 1994.
