Jennifer Harnish is an accomplished mental health professional and director with extensive experience in social services and rehabilitation for individuals with disabilities, particularly those facing vision loss. Currently serving as the Director of Social Services at the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired since September 2024, Jennifer previously held significant roles at the Carroll Center for the Blind, including Director of Rehabilitation Services and Clinical Fellow. Additional experience includes independent practice as a psychologist and disability support specialist, providing therapy and support to individuals managing a variety of challenges. Jennifer's educational background includes a Ph.D. in Psychology from Vanderbilt University and a B.S. in Psychology from Duke University, complemented by relevant research and clinical training in diverse settings, including at Children's Hospital - Boston and the University of Massachusetts Boston.

The Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired provides vision rehabilitation and support services throughout Massachusetts to more than 1,200 adults, primarily older adults, who are blind or visually impaired. Programs include access to low vision clinics, peer empowerment support groups, one-to-one volunteer assistance, in-home vision rehabilitation, adjustment counseling/mental health support, and access/assistive technology training. Our unique blend of programs and services enables individuals to learn to live confidently with vision loss.
