Christopher Tavares

Prior to 2014 when he started his time at UMass Lowell he was a radiation and laser safety officer at MIT and MIT Lincoln Lab. Responsibilities included managing radiation labs, laser safety, nuclear instrumentation, non-ionizing radiation, hazardous waste and materials (radioactive, chemical, and biological), shipping hazardous material, emergency response, and training. He was elected for a three-year term as a park and recreation commissioner in his town.
