Carolina Avellaneda has had a diverse range of work experiences throughout their career. Carolina began as an Associate at Roche Carens & DeGiacomo in 1995 and then went on to become a Partner at McCarter & English in 1997. In 2013, they transitioned to Fisher College, where they served as the Vice President of Operations and General Counsel until 2017. In the same year, they were appointed as the Vice Chair of the Latino Advisory Commission for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and in 2022, they became its Vice Chair. Carolina was also appointed as an Independent Director for MassHousing in 2017 and was elected as the Vice Chair of the Board in 2022. Most recently, Avellaneda has been working at the University of Massachusetts, starting as the Director of Governance & Compliance/Strategic Counsel in 2018 and progressing to roles such as Senior Director for Strategic Ventures/Governance & Strategic Counsel and Chief Strategy Officer & Strategic Counsel.
Carolina Avellaneda completed their education in a sequential manner. Carolina first attended Catskill High School from 1985 to 1987. After graduating from high school, they pursued their undergraduate studies at Wellesley College, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in psychology and history. Carolina attended Wellesley College from 1986 to 1991. Following their undergraduate degree, Carolina went on to attend Boston University School of Law from 1991 to 1994, where they obtained their Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree. Later in their career, they pursued further education at the Questrom School of Business, Boston University. In 2007, they completed the Pocket MBA for Lawyers program.
