Charlie Hipwood

Charlie Hipwood has over 25 years of experience in the financial services and venture capital industries. Charlie started their career in 1995 as an Associate in Capital Markets at JP Morgan, where they were responsible for trading/risk management and servicing Fortune 200 corporate clients and hedge fund clients. Charlie then moved to Level 3 Communications in 2000 as Director of Corporate Finance. In 2003, Charlie founded STAG Capital Partners, where they grew the firm from two to 35 people in four countries and became the most active acquirer of industrial real estate in the United States. In 2007, they founded STAG Capital Partners Europe, Ltd., working with tax and legal advisors to determine the optimal fund structure for the European entity and underwriting over 100 transactions. In 2010, they joined Market Shield Capital as Principal of Finance, Operations, and Investments, where they designed and created two real estate funds and a hedge fund. In 2011, Charlie founded AI Exchange, raising $3M from the VC/Angel community and leading to a successful exit. Finally, in 2015, they founded Fluent Financial Technologies, Inc., and in 2017, they became the President and CEO of MassVentures, a venture capital firm focused on fueling the Massachusetts innovation economy.

Charlie Hipwood obtained their MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business with concentrations in Finance, Strategy, Economics, and Accounting from 1999 to 2002. Charlie received their BA in Economics from Boston College from 1991 to 1995. Charlie attended St. Louis University High from 1987 to 1991. Additionally, they obtained their Series 65 from FINRA in November 2011 and their Investment Management from Financial Services Authority - UK in April 2007. Charlie is also a Dual Citizen of the USA and UK.
