Umair Meer

Umair Meer has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries and roles. Umair started their career as a Script Writer for Dare2Dream Comics in 2003 and later worked as a Volunteer Content Tester for CCP. In 2005, they became an Internet-Based Researcher for IssueBits Ltd and also took on the role of a Junior Project Manager for Their Majesty's Courts & Tribunal Service. Umair further excelled in project management, serving as an Administrative Support for a team relocation project in the same organization and later becoming an Acting Operations Team Manager.

Umair then joined Realm Studios as a Lead Story Developer before moving on to the Watermark Project at the Environment Agency, where they were a Project Support Officer, delivering actions arising from Exercise Watermark. Umair also contributed to the Digitrials squad at NHS Digital as a Product Manager/Owner, helping develop conformed data products for clinical trials. Umair continued to take on Product Manager/Owner roles for various projects at NHS Digital, such as the Data Access Environment and the Strategic Data Collection Service in the cloud.

Umair's most recent role was at Flexera, where they worked as a Senior Technical Product Owner responsible for the Platforms team. Here, they oversaw the transition of a monolithic codebase to cloud-based services in AWS while implementing agile ways of working and establishing product backlogs. Umair also implemented various tools and technologies to support the migration process and collaborated with multiple teams to ensure successful delivery.

Currently, Umair is working as a Principal Specialist - Lead Product Manager at Mastek, starting in 2023.

Umair Meer received a BA (Hons) degree in English-Philosophy from the University of Leeds from 1999 to 2002. Prior to that, they completed A Levels in General Studies, English Literature, Mathematics, and Psychology at Notre Dame Sixth Form College from 1997 to 1999. In addition, Umair obtained a PRINCE2 Practitioner certification from APMG-International in October 2011.
