Makena Mworia

Makena Mworia serves as the Head of Gender Entrepreneurship and Financial Inclusion at Mastercard Foundation since November 2024. Prior to this role, Makena was the Managing Director for Inkomoko in Kenya, focusing on supporting refugee and local entrepreneurs. Experience also includes a managerial position at British International Investment, where efforts centered on gender and diversity finance. Makena's career includes directorship at the Kenya Climate Innovation Center, where promotion of climate and clean energy technologies was key. Additionally, Makena served as a board trustee for New Faces New Voices, general manager at Echo Network Africa, and held various roles in management consulting and corporate banking. Makena holds an MSc in International Securities, Investment & Banking from the University of Reading, an MBA from Middlesex University, and a BA (Hons) in Financial Economics from Coventry University.
