Latricia Whitfield-Mendez

Latricia Whitfield-Mendez, Ed.D., serves as the Director of Social, Emotional, and Academic Development at Mastery Schools since July 2019, previously holding the position of Assistant Director of 9-12 Humanities. With extensive experience in educational administration, Latricia has demonstrated a commitment to high academic standards and researched effective curriculum practices. Latricia's academic background includes a Doctor of Education in Reading, Writing, and Literacy from the University of Pennsylvania, where a dissertation focused on race and racism in literacy education was completed. Additionally, Latricia has held various adjunct professor roles at institutions such as Swarthmore College and Arcadia University, and contributed to teacher development through programs like the National Writing Project. Prior experience includes significant positions at Mastery Charter Schools and TNTP, emphasizing leadership development and special education.
