Tara Flume has a diverse work experience in the legal field, particularly in the energy and oil and gas sectors. Tara began their career as a Legal Intern at the Dallas County District Attorney's Office in 2009, followed by a Legal Internship at Hunt Oil Company from 2009 to 2011. Tara then worked at Gray Reed & McGraw, P.C. as an Attorney specializing in energy, oil and gas transactional and title matters from 2011 to 2014.

Tara continued their legal career at Dentons as an Associate for a brief period in 2014 before joining Locke Lord LLP as an Attorney in the firm's Dallas office. At Locke Lord, they assisted clients in the energy industry and the oil and gas sector, handling various international and domestic transactional matters, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, financing, and operation of oil and gas assets. Tara stayed with Locke Lord LLP until January 2018.

In 2018, Tara joined Matador Resources Company as a Senior Midstream Counsel, where they provided legal guidance in midstream and marketing matters until October 2021. In the same year, they also became Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at San Mateo Midstream, a position they currently hold as of October 2021.

Throughout their career, Tara Flume has demonstrated their expertise and extensive experience in the energy industry and oil and gas sector, making their well-suited for their current roles as Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at Matador Resources Company and Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at San Mateo Midstream.

Tara Flume completed their education in two institutions. From 2004 to 2008, they attended Texas A&M University, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Business. Following this, they pursued a Juris Doctor degree in Law at the SMU Dedman School of Law from 2009 to 2011.
