John Derian

Master Teacher Fellow at Math for America

John Derian is an experienced educator with a strong focus on project-based learning and science instruction. Currently serving as National Faculty at PBLWorks since August 2017, John conducts workshops for educators across the United States. In addition, John has been a Master Teacher Fellow at Math for America since September 2014, participating in a community dedicated to professional development for public school mathematics and science teachers. At the New York State Education Department, John teaches Physical Science and Living Environment to ESL students at Brooklyn International High School, utilizing innovative, hands-on curriculum. John's experience also includes roles as an Education App Designer at EDesign Lab, a NatGeo Student Expeditions Leader, a Science Teacher at San Pedro High School, a Supplemental Instructor at UNC Wilmington, and an intern at the American Museum of Natural History. John holds a Master's in Teaching from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, alongside a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology from the same institution.
