David Backer

David Backer is a seasoned executive with extensive experience in the biotechnology sector. Currently serving as a Board Advisor for Matica Biotechnology, Inc., and as a Commercial Adviser for Lentitek since 2024, David also founded DB Biologics, LLC in 2022, providing strategic and CMC support for cell and gene therapy companies. David served as Chief Executive Officer for Curate Biosciences from December 2022 to June 2024 and held the position of Chief Commercial Officer at Oxford Biomedica from September 2021 to August 2022. Previous roles include SVP of Commercial Development at ElevateBio, Head of Commercial Development for Gene Editing and Novel Modalities at MilliporeSigma, and Global VP of Virus and Gene Therapy Services at SAFC. David's career began as President of Molecular Medicine BioServices, after acquiring the company in a management buyout. Educational credentials include a Master's in Business Administration from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor's in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Michigan.
