Laurence O'Toole

Laurence O'Toole has extensive work experience in the field of engineering and software development. Laurence is currently working at Matillion as the Senior Director of Engineering. Prior to this role, they worked as the Director of Engineering at Matillion. Previous to their time at Matillion, Laurence held the position of Head of Engineering and Head of Architecture at PeopleFluent, where they specialized in learning management platforms and software architecture. Laurence also has experience as a Technical Lead at American Express. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Sub Contracted Senior Software Engineer at EMC, Consultant Product Development Manager/Senior Software Engineer at Specsavers, and Consultant on Order Management and Hedge Management projects at Spargonet. Laurence has also worked as a Consultant Software Engineer at Airbus and as a Software Developer at Future Route and Arantech. Laurence started their career as a Subcontracted Software Developer at Ericsson. Throughout their career, Laurence has expertise in various technologies and methodologies such as Java, Spring, Hibernate, Maven, Git, and Agile.

Laurence O'Toole began their education in 1991 at Bruce College Cork, where they completed their Leaving Certificate in 1993. Laurence then went on to attend University College Cork from 1993 to 1998, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Science. In addition to their formal education, Laurence has obtained various certifications throughout their career. Laurence received a certification in "Building a Data Warehouse using Matillion" from Matillion Academy in April 2022. In December 2017, they became a Certified Scrum Master through the Scrum Alliance and also obtained the Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM®) designation. In May 2017, Laurence obtained the SAFe® 4 Practitioner certification from Scaled Agile, Inc. Laurence also holds a certification as a Certified SAFe 4.0 Practitioner, which they obtained in March 2017.
