Huyen Nguyen

Huyen Nguyen has a diverse work experience in the field of hydrogeological engineering. Huyen is currently employed as a Hydrogeological Engineer at Matrix Solutions Inc. since October 2021. Prior to this, they worked at SNC-Lavalin for a duration of 10 years, starting in May 2011 and ending in October 2021. During their time at SNC-Lavalin, they held the position of Groundwater Modeller and served as the Lead Modeller and Project Manager for numerous modelling projects in the mining and infrastructure sectors. Their specialties include hydrogeological modelling, site characterization and hydro-stratigraphic interpretation, groundwater resource protection/mitigation design, and data management and analysis. Huyen also has experience working as a Master Thesis Student at the University of Saskatchewan from 2007 to 2011, a Civil Engineer at the Vietnam Institute of Building Science and Technology from June 2004 to November 2006, and a Research Fellow at Kyoto University from 2005 to 2006.

Huyen Nguyen has a strong education background with a focus on civil engineering. Huyen received their Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Hanoi University of Architecture in the years 1999 to 2004. Huyen then pursued further studies and obtained a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, completing their studies in 2011.

In order to expand their skills and knowledge, Huyen is currently pursuing a Data Science Certificate at the University of Waterloo, starting in 2020 and expected to finish in 2022.

In addition to their academic achievements, Huyen is also working towards obtaining two professional engineer certifications. Huyen is in the process of obtaining a Professional Engineer certificate in Ontario from the Professional Engineers Ontario institution, as well as a Professional Engineer certification in Saskatchewan from the Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS).
