Vivek Narayanadas

Vivek Narayanadas has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Vivek is currently serving as the VP, Deputy General Counsel at Maven Clinic since May 2023. Prior to that, they held the position of General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at MetaMap from December 2021 to May 2023. At MetaMap, they oversaw legal, regulatory affairs, compliance, and security functions and managed a global team.

Before joining MetaMap, Vivek worked at Shopify from June 2017 to December 2021, where they held the position of Vice President, Legal and Data Protection Officer. At Shopify, they built, scaled, and managed various legal functions including privacy, intellectual property, litigation, regulatory affairs, government affairs, and antitrust. Vivek provided strategic advice to the executive team and Board of Directors and served as interim co-lead of the legal team during the search for a new General Counsel.

Prior to Shopify, Vivek worked at Rubicon Project as a Senior Counsel and Data Protection Officer from May 2014 to June 2017. Vivek provided legal advice on consumer privacy, data usage, cybersecurity, and other regulatory matters. Vivek also designed and implemented a global data flow compliance structure in compliance with international data protection laws.

Earlier in their career, Vivek worked as an Associate at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP from October 2012 to May 2014. Vivek represented clients in state, federal, and appellate courts in cases involving data privacy, consumer protection, and class action lawsuits. Vivek also drafted appellate briefs and dispositive motions.

Vivek gained valuable experience as a Law Clerk at the U.S. Court of Appeals from August 2011 to August 2012 and as a Law Clerk at the U.S. District Court from August 2010 to August 2011. Vivek also worked as an Associate at Irell & Manella from September 2009 to July 2010 and as a Summer Associate at the same firm from May 2008 to August 2008.

Vivek began their legal career as an Intern at the United States Attorney's Office from January 2008 to May 2008. Overall, their work experience showcases a strong background in legal and regulatory matters, team management, strategic advising, and litigation.

Vivek is also admitted to practice before the Ninth Circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals and the Third Circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals.
