Ian Mackinnon

Ian Mackinnon is the current Chief Technology Officer at Mavrck. Ian has also worked as Technical Lead at Mapdash from May 2013 to February 2015. Ian was responsible for rebuilding the backend of Scavenger hunt system in Ruby on Rails. Ian also managed the development of both iPhone and Android app. Ian implemented development processes involving continuous integration, continuous deployment, and proper bug-tracking processes. Prior to that, they were the Co-Founder at Placeling from July 2011 to April 2013. Ian was also the sole creator of the initial product. Ian was accepted into the inaugural Growlabs cohort raising. Ian created the Placeling app, a location-based iPhone app for sharing favourite locations. Ian also developed the backend for Placeling system in Ruby on Rails. Mackinnon has also worked as a Software Developer at SAP from December 2009 to July 2011. Ian started their career as a Software Engineering Intern at Google from January 2005 to May 2005. Ian later worked as Web Tools Developer at Perimeter Institute from September 2003 to August 2004.

Ian Mackinnon has a MMath from the University of Waterloo in Computer Science and Information Retrieval, as well as a BMath from the same school in Computer Science, Cognitive Science. Ian also has a University Teaching Certificate from the University of Waterloo, and is AWS Certified in Machine Learning - Specialty and Solutions Architect - Associate.
