Dr. Bassam El-Fahmawi

Dr. Bassam El-Fahmawi has extensive work experience in the field of bioscience and biotechnology. Dr. Bassam is currently the CEO and Chief Technical Officer at Mawi DNA Technologies, where they focus on developing innovative technologies for non-invasive and invasive biosample collection and storage. Prior to this, they worked as an Advisor at LokaTrain in 2016.

From 2013 to 2014, Dr. El-Fahmawi served as the Director of Business Development at Bioneer Inc. Before that, they held various roles at Corning Life Sciences from 2010 to 2013, including Business Development Manager and Global Product Manager for Axygen Biosciences.

Dr. El-Fahmawi's previous experience includes working as a Product Manager at Beckman Coulter Genomics from 2007 to 2010, where they successfully launched several product lines and developed marketing plans for automated DNA extraction. Dr. Bassam also worked as a Product Manager at Agencourt Bioscience during the same period.

In 2006, Dr. El-Fahmawi worked as a Product Development and Research Scientist at Norgen Biotek Corporation, and prior to that, they served as an Industrial Post Doc at Norgen Biotek.

Earlier in their career, Dr. El-Fahmawi gained experience as a Technical Marketing Specialist at MJS BioLynx/Canada from 2003 to 2006. Dr. Bassam started their career as a Medical Lab Manager at Prince Fahd Bin Sultan Hospital from 1997 to 1999.

Dr. Bassam El-Fahmawi has a comprehensive education history in the field of microbiology. Dr. Bassam began their academic journey by earning a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology from Kuwait University in 1988. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Medical Microbiology and Bacteriology from Kuwait University, which they completed in 1990.

Dr. El-Fahmawi's passion for microbiology and biotechnology led him to the University of Alberta, where they pursued a Ph.D. degree. Dr. Bassam completed their Ph.D. in Microbiology and Biotechnology in 2005. In addition to this, they also earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Microbiology, General from the same institution during the same time period.

With their diverse educational background and expertise in microbiology, Dr. El-Fahmawi is equipped with a broad base of knowledge in the field.
