Markus Hartl is an accomplished scientist with extensive experience in mass spectrometry and plant biology. Currently serving as the Head of Mass Spectrometry Service at Max Perutz Labs Vienna since May 2014, Markus has a strong research background highlighted by a guest scientist role at the Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry from May 2012 to April 2014, where collaboration focused on lysine acetylation. Prior to that, Markus worked as a postdoc at Ludwig-Maximilians Universität München from August 2010 to December 2013, investigating post-translational modifications in plant metabolite signaling, and at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology in early 2010, researching serine protease inhibitors in plant defense. Markus earned a Dr. rer. nat. in Plant Biology from the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology and a Diplom in Biology and Ecology from the University of Vienna.
