Devin Maness

Chief Security Officer at Maxxsure

Devin Maness currently serves as the Chief Security Officer (CSO) at Maxxsure. In addition to overseeing all aspects of security for Maxxsure, Devin partners with the development team to create, publish, and provide various security frameworks to support governance needs of both public and private client organizations whom Maxxsure serves.

Devin started his career in information security when he joined the United States Navy and served aboard a nuclear submarine, the USS City of Corpus Christi (SSN-705), as a Radioman with a Top-Secret SCI clearance. After the military, Devin completed his bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems (Magna Cum Laude) at Tarleton State University. During this time, he became a self-taught white hat hacker and volunteered his security services to help protect a local school district and small businesses from cyber threats.

Since then, Devin has accrued 25 years of technical and leadership experience in the areas of cyber security, risk management, and governance. In 2006, he joined the Federal Reserve, where he established and maintained an information security and audit program for the Treasury Web Application Infrastructure (US Department of the Treasury). After his time at the Federal Reserve, Devin has served in security leadership roles at other organizations, including McAfee, Hewlett-Packard, Bank of America, and other financial institutions, where he established the security programs to identify and manage risk to the organizations’ desired risk-appetite.

Devin lives by two philosophies: the first, “Iron sharpens iron,” and the second, “Those with the power to protect should protect those who cannot protect themselves.” He adheres to these philosophies in his personal life through his volunteer work on the security team at his church and in his professional life by serving and strengthening Maxxsure’s employees, customers, and partners. Devin has a true passion and talent for cybersecurity and continues to strive to better himself and others.
