Co-Founder & CTO at Mayan

Javier Garcia is a co-founder and the CTO of Mayan since July 2020. Prior to that, they were the founder and partner of Clara Consulting starting in April 2017. Javier also worked at Data Driven as a Lead Data and Cloud Engineer, where they led a team of engineers and developed ETL projects using various technologies and platforms such as Spark Scala, AWS EMR, and Databricks. Javier also co-founded Qipo and served as a Data and Integrations Architect, overseeing strategy, operations, and product development. At MITRE, they worked as a Software Systems Engineer, Sr., collaborating with Department of Defense stakeholders and developing prototypes to enhance system interoperability. Javier also gained experience as a Strategy Consultant at Covered Security, conducting market research and providing business recommendations. Additionally, they have held positions at White Whale Laboratories, MIT Space Systems Laboratory, MIT Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research, and MIT Lincoln Laboratory, where they gained technical expertise in areas such as avionics design, digital hardware, and engineering analysis.

Javier Garcia attended Naples High School from 2003 to 2007 and obtained a High School Diploma. Javier then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering with Information Technology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2007 to 2011. After a gap of a few years, they furthered their education by obtaining a Master's Degree in Engineering Management from Tufts University, which they completed from 2015 to 2017.

In addition to their formal education, Javier Garcia has acquired several certifications. In May 2019, they obtained the Amazon Web Services SysOps Administrator - Associate certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS). This was followed by the completion of the Google Cloud Certified Professional Data Engineer certification in August 2020, offered by Google. Most recently, in March 2022, they achieved the Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect certification, also from Google.
