Kyle Thompson has extensive work experience in the field of engineering and physics. Kyle began their career in 2003 as a Research Assistant at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. In 2006, they joined the University of Florida as a Teaching Assistant and Ph.D. Department of Physics. In 2012, they moved to the University of Sao Paulo as a Post Doctoral Assistant. In 2014, they joined Janis Research Company, LLC as a Senior Cryogenic Technician - Ultra Low Temperature Laboratory. In 2015, they joined MIT Lincoln Laboratory as a Mechanical Engineer, Member of Technical Staff, where they developed innovative mechanical design solutions for ground, airborne, and spaceborne applications. In 2021, they founded and became the CTO of Maybell Quantum Industries.
Kyle Thompson completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics from the University of Florida in 2012. In 2011, they were a Visiting Scholar at Osaka City University in the field of Physics. From 2002 to 2006, they obtained a BS in Physics and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Applied Mathematics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. In addition, Thompson has obtained two certifications: Applications of Quantum Computing from MIT xPRO in October 2018 and Architecture and Systems Engineering: Models and Methods to Manage Complex Systems from MIT xPRO in September 2016.
