C. Kawezya Burris

C. Kawezya Burris serves as the Assistant Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Mayer Brown since July 2021. Prior to this role, C. Kawezya Burris held positions as Assistant General Counsel and Director at Bank of America from July 2017 to August 2021, and as an attorney in the Division of Advertising Practices at the Federal Trade Commission from May 2014 to June 2017, where responsibilities included serving as an Attorney Advisor to Commissioner Julie Brill. C. Kawezya Burris began a legal career as an associate at Kaye Scholer LLP and Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP from August 2011 to May 2014 and September 2006 to July 2011, respectively, with earlier experience as a summer associate at Hanson Bridgett LLP and Crowell & Moring LLP, and as an intern at the Federal Trade Commission. C. Kawezya Burris earned a Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley - School of Law (2003-2006) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from the University of Oregon (2000-2003), along with a Certificate of Completion in Intellectual Property Law from WIPO Worldwide Academy in 2002.
